Phoenix Trails unfolds as a vibrant exploration of movement and energy, where swirling arcs and layered brushstrokes converge in a dynamic interplay of color and form. The painting holds a pulse, a gathering of energy where cooler tones meet warmth, white flickers igniting flashes of light against a darker undercurrent. Creating it felt like tracing stories not fully told—echoes of ancient fires, rebirth, and transformation. There’s a rhythm here that is both spontaneous and deliberate, a swirling dance caught between action and legend. This work is an invitation to enter that current, to follow the trails and find what lingers beneath.
The movement here is elemental—a torrent caught between emergence and flight. It reflects a pulse of action powered by an underlying current of mythological resonance. This connection to ancient narratives shapes the work’s unique process and presence, inviting a contemplative engagement that moves beyond the purely visual. The painting speaks not only through color but through the suggestion of transformation and renewal, evoking the mythic ascent of the phoenix.
Creating Phoenix Trails involved a dialogue with both gesture and story, allowing spontaneity to ripple alongside intentional layering. The acrylic medium captures the immediacy of motion, preserving the sense of flight in each curved sweep and energetic mark. The result is a piece that holds its quiet power within a compact form, offering a space where energy and myth intertwine without excess.
This work was created during 2020 when we were confined to being at home due to the "pandemic of covid". I took the opportunity to paint and put my art on display online, hanging on my fence at home calling it my "open studio".
