Warm and Intimate Alabaster is a piece where I explored the unexpected—painting oil and cold wax directly onto alabaster, enhanced with resin to deepen the surface’s glow. The vibrant oranges and reds ripple into blues and purples, layered thick and textured with organic patterns that pull you into their movement. Its irregular shape and shimmering flecks catch the light differently from every angle, making the artwork feel alive and sculptural.

The artwork’s irregular shape breaks free from traditional boundaries, offering a sculptural presence that heightens its dynamic energy. Anchored on smooth alabaster and sealed with resin, the piece balances tactile richness with a luminous finish, inviting close engagement and quiet contemplation alike. This fusion of material exploration and expressive color weaves a compelling narrative of warmth, intimacy, and visual tension. It looks truly beautiful in a garden window.

Working on alabaster with oil, cold wax, and resin was an uncharted path for me. I had tested resin on alabaster in smaller experiments, but this is the first fully realized artwork embracing it with oil and cold wax and resin. The challenge—and thrill—was in translating the richness and softness of cold wax to such a dense stone surface, while using resin to preserve and amplify depth without overwhelming the tactile warmth of the wax and paint. This is a work born from a quiet experiment turned into something vivid and singular—a true one-of-a-kind conversation between material and color.
